Gunung Yong Belar 2D1N

FINALE

By 9.30am we were already at Kem Kasut, prepared some breakfast--> maggie kari dan serunding udang..what a marvelous combination ..and hot coffee. It's always a different mood during return trip compared to yesterday coz we already met our objective.

View of Kem Kasut towards trek to waterpoint.

This is Men's area..look at his emergency blanket that was used as blanket last night..haha

Ladies area, the first one is my hammock. We chose to use hammock because the area is always wet and it is easier and lighter to carry a hammock compared to tent. We packed up and clean the campsite, pick up all our thrash and divided our uncooked ration among the guys.

One last for photo at Kem Kasut before we left. The other group asked what happened earlier this morning..they heard someone screaming..hahaha..told 'em my story..huhu..

We left Kem Kasut at 10.15am and started again our horrible journey... we targeted to reached Kem Rimba by 4.00pm. We thought that our backpack will be lighter but it seems like the weight did not decreased at all. We hike and hike and did not bump into hikers like yesterday where many people did daypack and some camped at other spot.
I was alone at this moment, some of them were ahead, the rest were still at the back, I just need to walked slowly and steady at my own pace. Rest many times but tried to control and limit myself not to exceed 5 minutes during each stop.

CT and I walked together leaving the guys with sweeper, by the time we saw that small river, we were soooo excited, that means we are already at Kem Tudung Periuk. We heard the rest shouting at us, even though we can't see them, but there's a relief feeling. We walked down slowly, put down our backpack, fill up our water bladder and bottles..what a journey. We waited for our husband there, so we were there for more than 20 minutes.

Kem Tudung Periuk, not crowded like yesterday, felt relief the moment we reached this campsite. We rest again for about 30 minutes to pray and what not..I was still searching for my apple,..took out everything from hubby's backpack..couldn't find any..then he remembered that he already ATE it,...grrr..sob sob...

At Kem Tudung Periuk

We left Kem Tudung Periuk at 2.30 pm..semangat berkobar sebab dah lepas azab tadi. Perjalanan balik kali ni tak terasa azab mcm masa nak pi even though we did not have lunch, just kurma and chocolate.

Gunung Yong Belar 2D1N

PART 03

Menuju puncak...

20th May 2017 (Sunday)

I could hear Jaja and Ezra were talking..they can't stand the cold coz the wind was blowing from their side and I was lucky coz they already blocked the wind to my hammock. Sooo..I slept like a log. We were supposed to wake up at 4.00am and left for the summit at 5.00am. Everybody was tired and some of them woke up at 5.00am.

I really needed to brush my teeth, I sat on my ground sheet and under the dim light, press the toothpaste tube onto my brush. I was excited coz I did not brush my teeth last night..another rules broken...haha...I brush two strokes and screammmmmmm !!!!...arghhhhh....huhuuuuuu......It was damn hot and spicy and stinging..it was actually my ubat otot..ubat panas...I had to used cold water and spit them out ..arghh..what a way to start my morning.

We packed some of our stuff and put them into our hammock..put on new socks..wet hiking shoes..huhu

By 6.00am we were ready with our headlamp, orange t-shirt..our theme for Yong Belar trip, hiking pole,..I only ate one kurma and some water. We headed to summit in the dark, estimated to reach the summit within 1 or 1.5 hours depending on pace. So we hiked..and hiked..muddy trek again, Yong Belar is well known for its muddy trek.

By almost 7.00 am we already see a bit of light from behind, we split into two groups as always ..mossy forest sooth our view and tiredness..few minutes later we heard..'tak jauh dah'..and there was a sign that we almost there where the trees are different and we could see the sky bit by bit..

I heard my husband said Allahhuakbar many times..then he said..'cepatt...i nak peluk you..'..ohhh what a relief..I saw them..I saw him putting on his backpack on the ground..we hugged each other..congratulated each other..FINALLY..10 of us at the peak of Mount Yong Belar at 7.20 am, 3rd highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia..

Geng laki dengan guide kami yg paling kiri dan paling tinggi dna paling laju dan paling tak pewai..huhu
From left: Guide (Amri), Jalal, Shahir, Haffis (my husband), Budi, Kodin and our great sweper Milo.

Yeahhh..no pain no gain yeahh..with banner made by our kids. Since we were early and the first group, we had a chance to watch the clouds that most hikers are chasing...AWAN KARPET..it was amazing.

Allahhuakhbar..MashaAllah..what a view..kannn..

Yuhooo....awak disana..kami akan pi nanti..tunggu kami Yong Yap...kalau ada rezeki dan kekuatan, dengan IzinNya..

We were at the summit for almost an hour..it was a memorable moment, for most of them Yong Belar is their first G7, for me this is my second G7, Shahir's 3rd and Jalal's second after Korbu..

A rare wefie post from us at the top of the mountain.

Four crazy bunch of ladies

We left for Kem Kasut at almost 8.30am..with a smile on our face..with satisfaction..all made it without major injury. We met other hikers along the trek and push them to hurry otherwise they are not going to catch awan karpet.

Gunung Yong Belar 2D1N

PART 02

PEWAIIII.....

Jam menunjukkan pukul 5.00 petang, dak naikkk..turunnn..naikkk...turunnnn...false peak dah berapa kali, lumpur dah banyak di kasut, seluar dan stokin..tanda-tanda nak sampai ke Kem Kasut tak nampak lagi..ahhh sudah..

It started to rain, grey clouds above us, it was drizzling, mentally tortured and physically tiring. Took out my poncho..but not comfortable wearing it coz it kept blocking my view during descend. Bumped into other hikers, they said another 2 hours from here..WHATT..??oh nooo..

(credit: Kodin)
To make things worse..a friend was having multiple leg cramp, almost every 40 minutes, I was afraid to walk alone so I waited for them..Resting with heavy load, almost dark even though it wasn't 7.00 pm yet, it made me stress.

We could hear from walkie talkie that the campsite is not that far..but the spirit already LOW..kept dragging my feet..by this time it was offically PEWAI moment..no more smile, no more selfie or wefie, no more observing nature and what not like I used to do..The main objective is to reach Kem Kasut before magrib oiii...mana boleh jalan dalam hutan time magrib..

While we were fighting with our mind, our guide came and showed us the trek ..we followed him but our sweeper had this 'thought'..haha..he thought what if he is actually not our guide but a GHOST..coz it's already dark and almost magrib.

I was so tired, keep on hiking..and at one point, I thought that I saw a fly sheet and I said..'dah sampai'..but to my surprised, it was just a tree and light and shadow played my mind..ohhh nooo..By this time, my husband already reached Kem Kasut, guide reported through walkie talkie..I felt relieved as he could set up my hammock first.

The rest of the team members (4 people) kept on hiking with many mumbling and rantings..'mana ni..?, bila nak sampai ni..?'..it was a normal condition in this situation.

By this time, I just walked ..and walked ignoring the mud, I just want to reach and rest and eat and sleep..that's it.

As we walked in the dark, we finally heard voices and saw lights from hanging lamp bought in PD..I couldn't figure out which is was our team. I just walked and later saw my husband, saw Jaja and Ezra was sitting on the ground sheet. We felt relieved but the adventure does not stop there.

My feet was so tired and cold due to soaking wet socks..I gave my hammock and ground to him, while he was busy with setting up my hammock, I sat down and talked to myself that this will be my last G7 trip..as this is my second G7,..I am too old for this shit..yupp..I said that at that point..I did really wash my face, just my hand. Waited for him to warm my pre-cooked food (we brought Brahim's nasi beriyani)..I was so hungry, I took out an apple from my backpack, wipe it on my shawl and just ate it..ohh no..against my principle..but hey sometimes we need to adjust, adapt and adopt..or even evolve to survive..

He handed me nasi beriyani, I was still at the same spot, eating directly from the plastic bag..just took a sip from my mineral water..COLD..put it back..I was sitting and not moving, CT asked me whether I was reading..ahha..totally PEWAI ...

Chilled wind crossing our area..we knew that it was going to be cold that night..

Unfortunately, my husband did not bring a sweater or windbreaker..poor guy..

I decided to call it a day, did not help the team, I just put on my snow cap, clean socks, buff, windbreaker and covered myself with kain batik jawa..try to sleep in my hammock, it was chilly..14 degree Celcius..Hubby wore my jacket and covered himself with emergency blanket.

I saw tree trunk, tree canopy from my hammock, put a warmer pad bought at Daiso in between my knee..prayed for a good night and a good day tomorrow for summit push..zzZZZZ

End of day 01

Gunung Yong Belar 2D1N

PART 01

Date: 20-21st May 2017 (2D1N)
Grade: G7 (3rd Highest)
Difficulty: Hardcore

Day 01 - 20th May 2017 (Saturday)

We've been planning this for months, so many hurdles at a very last minutes,..almost cancel the trip but Alhamdulillah, if God had planned this for us..no matter what, we will able to achieve it.

We met up at kedai mamak, to distribute our ration askar and others, planned to left for Cameron at 2.00am but ended up at 3.00am. We car pool, so total 3 cars from Putrajaya on this adventure. Wuhoo..

These are our hiking shoes and backpack. I wasn't sure at this moment whether to use hiking shoes or not but I brought along my selipar Jepun. The guys were driving alternately, while the ladies need their beauty sleep,..haha.. we arrived at SK Kg Raja around 6.00am. Our guide were waiting at this school, 4x4 or what people call 'powil' came with our packed breakfast of nasi lemak, teh O suam and packed lunch. We left at 7.20am with a happy and cheerful face..haha..belum tau azab Yong Belar lagi..
(credit: Budi)
Breakfast dulu..wefie dulu..ceria lagi noo..
(credit: Budi)
One for the album..wefie by our guide..sporting mamat ni..

Arrived at Blue Valley around 8.20am with high spirit..it was chilly, berasap mulut..ala-ala kat Ireland..did some stretching exercise and briefing by our guide. After his briefing, I decided to used my selipar Jepun je sebab katanya nanti awal-awal habis basah kasut kat area pipelines. I am not comfortable using adidas kampung, melecet..so opted my selipar Jepun.

Awal-awal lagi dah penat..haha..konon dah training, mana taknya we need to climb the steep stairs with heavy load. After almost 40 minutes, we arrived at the start of slippery pipelines area, I was so confident that wearing slipper was a good option..unfortunately the area is not only slippery but the water level is almost knee high..cucuk hiking pole dalam air, rupanya dalam..I felt 3 times..grrr..padan muka..so I guess, adidas kampung or kasut getah is much better.

(credit:CT)
Bangla belakang yang pakai boot Pua Chu Kang tu selamba je jalan, tak macam kami yang terkedek-kedek..Masa ni still boleh show our happy face and happy feet..haha
Lepas sejam, sampai la kesini..lega rasanya tapi air ni tak boleh minum sebab mengalir dari kawasan kebun, sama kes macam anak sungai dalam kawasan kebun getah, banyak racun. So boleh basuh-basuh kasut je. Hubby was washing his rubber shoes aka adidas kampung.

(credit: Kodin)
Lepas lepak dalam 10 minit and some selfie..we had to crossed on this log, but I chose walking in the water..just after this river, we walked through farm area towards Pintu Rimba where the real adventure began...huhu..we left kebun area at 10.05 am..
Wuhooo..at Pintu Rimba, kasut yang masih suci,,jiwa masih kental..semuanya okay lagi lah kiranya time ni..ahaha..From here we hike under the canopy which made the hike a pleasant one.
Hike for 2 hours and trek is still considered fair..even though up and down as usual..pacak sikit.
Arrived at Kem Tudung Periuk at 1.30pm..there were many hikers there, some of them camped there. There is water point here, so we rest, solat and had our packed lunch, nasi putih, ayam masak merah and sayur kubis..Guide cakap nak bertolak dari sini pukul 2.30pm..'lepas ni trek pacak SIKIT compared to here'..we estimated that we will reach Kem Kasut around 6.00pm depending on our pace. Never that we thought it will be more ..arghh..

My Deuter backpack was still looking good at this time..suci dalam cover lagi..ahah..walkie talkie tu pun still ok lagi..mental pun ok lagi..tak koyak lagi..mine was almost 8 kg ..I guess, coz I got my ground sheet, windbreaker, rations, mineral water, food, light t shirt, hiking pant, buff, socks, kain batik and some make up..wajib okay..
Some plants at Kem Tudung Periuk, me and hubby really loves Yong Belar trek coz of the canopy, the trees and weather except for it's mud..haha..tenggelam oooii..
Dalam pukul 2.30 petang dengan jiwa raga yang penuh semangat, kami pun memulakan perjalanan, first hurdle was going down a slippery area crossing the river. And then went up the hill..and hike,,..and hike..and hike..to few false peak..before we reach CP4, there are few areas with stunning view either looking at the mountain range of the trek itself. We both felt so lucky to be able to witness and experience all these. Alhamdulillah.

After one hour plus, we reached at CP 4, rest for few minutes and met other groups, but they were heading to Kem Pelaur which is a bit off trek..we thought that it is better so that Kem Kasut won't be too crowded.
Ohhh..we love this moss so much..Hubby said we don't have to go to Irau anymore coz this is good enough..hahha
Wuhooo....I really love it..masa ni boleh la senyum simpul lagi..kasut pun tak kotor sangat lagi, masih boleh imbang badan elak lumpur.
(credit: Kodin)
Look at thisss..

We hike again..up and down..met other hikers along the trek..they said that Kem Kasut is about 2 hours plus, but our guide said otherwise..mental dah start terganggu....

Daypack Hiking Trip

Location : Gunung Tok Wan
Pax: 2 person

Preparation is important whether for short hike, day pack and of coz for long distance hike where you need to prepare extra attire and gear, from hiking stuff to ration.
For this 5 hours hike and in tropical country with high humidity, we brought along these items;

Hiking pole
Hiking shoes
Poncho - the weather is unpredictable now
3 mineral water
Bun, chocolate and energy bar
Raisins, date, dried fruits
Sunblock..anyway..I am already burn from many trips this year
First Aid Kit..a must..even if you are not injured, you can help others
Sketch book and pen for me
Hat
Face towel
Lipstick..important yeahh..

My normal packing list

I've seen people who take for granted all this item, maybe they are thinking that this is just a hill..or just a short hike,,but hey we never knew what will happen. So, its better be safe than sorry.

Broga Hill

February 2017

Started off as our usual hike at Broga Hill. We started hiking at almost 8.00 am but fortunately it was raining the night before so the weather was pleasant for a short hike like this.

View towards the adjacent area

Even though there is a new trek, we still prefer the old trek to Broga peak, there's a 'cakap2' about this RM1 charges here but I don't mind paying as long as it's safer for my family and covered with trees.

Via the old trek

After half and hour, we need to STOP,...simply because of the amazing view of awan karpet. For hikers, it is like a bonus when you hike and experience to see this kind of clouds. We really enjoyed it.

Look at him..so happy..it was a bit cold which made the hiking experience great for kids

View towards the new trek covered with clouds..isn't it lovely

Yeah..finally at 9.22am we arrived at the Broga Peak, should arrived earlier but we stop many times just to look at the clouds. This is his I think fourth or fifth time here.
Bunga senduduk..common plants in this area

On the way, it was already sunny but not too hot like usual. There were not many people along the old trek which make the journey calmer..not crowded like last year where we depend on only one trek up and down. At least we have a choice now.

The trailhead is located at the rubber tree plantation, and the coconut shake stall is a must place to visit. Hadif was exploring the area, looking for its fruits on the ground.

Gunung Tok Wan

Difficulty: Easy
Duration : 5 hours (including break and selfie :)
Date : 21st January 2017 (Saturday)

Bukit Broga memang dah famous among hikers, Gunung Tok Wan before this tak ramai yang naik. Mostly stop until Broga peak saja. Been wanting to go there, since few of my officemate wanted to join, we gathered few people but only two of us who wanted to proceed to Gunung Tok Wan.

Kami start kumpul di parking dalam pukul 6.15 pagi dan solat subuh dalam kabin yang gelap tu dulu. Lepas warm up ready dengan headlamp, terus proceed ikut trek lama. Ada yang bawa anak-anak sekolah rendah. Ada yang first time naik Broga so diaorang tak expect yang Broga ni dari awal mencanak. so ended up ada yang sampai CP2 saja..the rest followed us until Broga peak.

View from CP2 ..i need a new camera i guess..

Ikut arrow tu..but make sure pergi jangan sorang dan bukan lewat petang. Buddy system is important and bring enough water even though this journey is only 1.5 hours for us. Kami memang dah set time to reach peak within 1 hour and 30 minutes. Masa start masuk dalam ni, memang rasa lain sebab trek Tok Wan ni dalam hutan dan berjalan di bawah kanopi pokok berbeza daripada Broga yang luas dan lapang dan boleh nampak orang.

This is how the trek look like,..certain area. Just follow the red tape marking on the trees. Trek dalam ni tak confusing macam Kota Damansara Community Forest tu yang banyak junction, even Bukit Gasing pun banyak junction.

Pokok-pokok sepanjang trek.

Pokok ni among trademark di sini.

Bila dah sampai area ni maknanya dah tak jauh ke puncak.
Yeah..finally after 1 and half hours we made it to the peak at 9.15 am, there were only three other hikers at the peak, so we rest here for 20 minutes since there's no spectacular view like other mountain peak.

Lepas rehat, dalam 9.30am kami mula gerak keluar dari puncak Gunung Tok Wan, on the way turun baru start nampak banyak group yang masuk ke sini. Tapi kami prefer start awal sebab tak panas dan tak ramai orang.

By the time kami sampai sini..memang heaven..sebab dah lenggang..no more traffic jam..haha..Ohhh I love this view..
Kami sampai di trailhead dalam pukul 12 tengahari..lepak dulu minum coconut shake..sejukk..legaa..

Updated: kami pi Sabtu, kes Azarul hilang di Broga hari Ahad..scary
I joined SAR on final day together with his family..will share the story later
